PLATES AND UNDERPLATES

Monreale’15 is a collection consists of glass plates and wooden underplates. The decoration is inspired by the columns of Sicilian cathedral in Monreale. The project aimed to bring back and synthesize the variety of designs that different cultures performed over the centuries by collaborating on the construction of the cathedral.

Each underplate was accompanied by its plate, a pairing which gave life to the final decoration: each piece lived and was made through the other.
Monreale’15 touches different senses: the inlays were discovered by blindly curious fingers and the fragrance of the wood provoked the sense of smell.
